Designing Around Sloped Ceilings
Rather than working from a standard wardrobe shape, we survey the room and design doors and internal shelving to follow the actual angle of your roofline. A few approaches we commonly use:
- Angled doors that follow the slope of the ceiling, rather than a flat-fronted wardrobe that wastes the space above it
- Stepped internal shelving in the lower part of the wardrobe, where headroom is more restricted
- Full hanging space positioned under the taller part of the room, with lower storage (drawers, shoe racks) under the slope
- Sliding doors, which work particularly well in loft rooms where floor space is already tight and hinged doors would need clearance to open
Bespoke Modern and Shaker Loft Wardrobes
We build both modern and Shaker-style wardrobes for loft spaces. Modern designs tend to use handleless, flat-panel doors in matte or gloss finishes — a clean look that works well with the slanted lines of a loft conversion. Shaker-style wardrobes bring a more traditional, framed-panel look, which suits period properties or loft conversions designed to match the rest of the house.
